Mission Statement

DOC First-Year Trips is a program committed to easing the transition of first-year students to college life. This program aims to facilitate meaningful interactions between first-years and upperclassmen that will give students confidence in forging their own paths and identities while at Dartmouth. Trips is a safe, genuine, and accessible outdoor experience that extends beyond pre-orientation, setting the tone for the Dartmouth community for the upcoming school year.

"During Trips, Dartmouth became my home. My trippees became my people, and the wilderness that was once so intimidating became my backyard." —Angie Yang ’13

“Something happened over the course of Trips that served to allay the fears I had, worries about having to make all new friends, in the weeks leading up to my First-Year Trip. When I stepped off the bus after my trip, I couldn't wait to start my four years at Dartmouth.” —Luisa Sperry’ 13
