New projects are undertaken every year, but typically include facility and trail construction and maintenance (building and improving cabins, cutting and clearing trails, and many other projects). Hiring occurs in the spring. For more information, please contact Rory.C.Gawler@dartmouth.edu.

DOC First-Year Trips

Listed just for the sake of completeness, the DOC First-Year Trips Director is appointed by the DOC President in consultation with the Outdoor Programs staff. In addition to this paid position, there are also volunteer positions in the DOC First-Year Trips program, such as the Assistant Director, many trip leaders, and the Hanover, VOX, Lodge, Grant, and Climbing Crews and their Crew Directors. Trip Leader applications are available online from late February through early April, and crew applications are available from the Outdoor Programs Office during the same time period.
