Morton Farm

The Morton Farm is the home of the Dartmouth Riding Center, including the Dartmouth Equestrian Team. In 1979, Mr. and Mrs. William Morton ’32, provided a substantial amount of money to the Club for the establishment of a riding facility on a farm in nearby Etna. The money provided for equipment and personnel. The farm occupies approximately 200 acres of land, mostly wooded, with trails winding throughout. The Director of the Riding Program, Sally Batton, encourages students to visit the land and investigate the trails. On winter evenings, the view of the stars is said to be brilliant from one of the large fields near the barn. The sunsets are also magnificent, and from one hill, there is a fine view of Mount Ascutney. Visitors who would like to walk the trails or camp out should check in with Sally at

How to get there:
From the Hanover Inn, follow East Wheelock Street past Alumni Gym for 1.4 miles to the top of a steep hill, at which point the road bears left and becomes Trescott Road. Continue along Trescott for 2.8 miles to a “T” intersection. Turn left onto Hanover Center Road, and after 0.3 miles turn right onto King Road. Follow King Road as it winds upward for 1.4 miles. Turn right onto Laramie Road and after 0.4 miles look for a sign on the left welcoming you to the Dartmouth Riding Program.
