Kirby Fund

The Dave Kirby Adventure Fund is designed to encourage Dartmouth student members of the Ledyard Canoe Club to dream up and take part in a wide variety of outdoor adventures which, whether students realize it or not, can teach principles vital to their life's fulfillment, to their relations with others and with the natural world around them — teamwork, planning, carrying out responsibilities, and adjusting to the whims of nature.

Applications

The Kirby Fund is open to any undergraduate student member of the Ledyard Canoe Club.

Applications should be submitted to the Ledyard Canoe Club Board of Directors. Applications recommended for funding by the Directorate will be reviewed by the Outdoor Programs Office with input from the Risk Management Office for final approval.

Applications should contain the following information:

  • Trip Goals
  • Budget: with an itemized breakdown of projected costs, including equipment requirements and contingencies.
  • Time Table
  • Appropriateness Statement: a brief statement on the appropriateness of the adventure to the experience level of the participants.
  • Review Plan: a program for sharing the fun, the lessons learned, and information gained after the adventure.
