Connecticut River Waterfront
College Swimming Docks
The college swimming docks are open for the season starting on Friday, June 26th.
Docks are only open to current Dartmouth ID holders (no one under 18 allowed on the docks). Typical hours are 12-8pm on weekends and 2-8pm on weekdays. That is based on guard availability which is kept up to date in the calendar below. Any time slot with two guards scheduled is a time slot that the dock is open.
About the Waterfront
The Connecticut River Waterfront is a busy place throughout the warm-weather months, providing canoeing and kayaking for the community for Dartmouth students.
Canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the Ledyard Canoe Club, up-river from the Ledyard Bridge (past the boathouse and the swim docks). The Club offers lessons in the use of this equipment (for PE credit or just for recreation) and schedules a series of competitive and recreational paddling events. Membership in the Ledyard Canoe Club is encouraged. For more information on the Ledyard Canoe Club, call them at (603) 643-6709, request a Ledyard Canoe Club brochure, or visit the club’s website.
Swimming is prohibited, as is jumping or diving off Ledyard Bridge (extremely dangerous due to recent construction debris), except at the college swim docks when lifeguards are on duty.
