Packing Lists for Trips that Sleep in Cabins
These Trip types are based in cabins or bunkhouses owned by Dartmouth (or a partner organization) across New Hampshire. The facilities in each cabin vary, and participants can expect to sleep indoors in shared bunk rooms, use out-house style toilets, and have no access to electricity or running water.
Packing Lists for Trips That Sleep in Cabins
Click on your specific trip type below to see the relevant packing list for you. You will receive your trip assignment in early August.
Be sure to review the Packing Lists How To's and the Gear Item Glossary for more details about specific items, what not to bring, tips on acquiring gear, and what Trips will provide.
Important: For all trips, make sure to bring the required number of water bottles! It might seem like too many, but believe us, it’s important. You need water to cook and wash dishes, and depending on your trip, your cabin might not be close to water.
When packing your bag, remember that you’ll need to carry some group gear and food in addition to your personal belongings so be sure to leave about ⅓ of your bag for these items.
We strongly recommend a duffel bag or backpack which can be carried rather than a suitcase. Many of the cabins have an approach (up to 0.75 miles) which does not facilitate wheeled suitcases.
