Program Coordinator

Biography

Dan designs and delivers a wide variety of outdoor leadership and wellness programming for the Dartmouth community — from multi-day wilderness-based courses to team-building experiences, Physical Education courses, and other experiential offerings. A central part of Dan's work is building partnerships across campus to bring these experiences to a wider range of undergrad and grad students, staff, and faculty. Dan also advises Dartmouth Outing Club sub-clubs and student leaders, supports risk management, and has a particular interest in the thoughtful, intentional design of outdoor experiences — how a program's structure and pacing can shape reflection, connection, and growth for participants.

Relevant past work experience:
Dan's past jobs have been diverse -- from leading extended wilderness trips, to working with younger kids in a public middle school or social work setting, counseling high school students in their college search and application process, or managing a large rock climbing gym, he's always been interested in helping people have and navigate experiences from which they can extract as much meaning and growth as possible.

Favorite outdoor activities:
Dan loves a wide range of outdoor activities, but especially loves those that allow him to move and travel and explore deep into the wilderness. Dan has found this through rock climbing, Nordic skiing, mountain biking, canoeing, hiking/backpacking (AT class of 2019).

These days though, his favorite is long distance trail/mountain running.

Certifications: Wilderness First Responder, Mental Health WFA, AIARE 1
